Testimony of Miracles

///Testimony of Miracles

Miracles as Proofs of Existence of Allah:

Once the polytheists of Makkah assembled around the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) saying that if you are the true messenger of God then please split the moon into two parts. He asked them that if he does so will they become believers. They said yes. Then he beckoned to the full moon of fourteenth night and the people saw with their naked eyes that the moon was split into two parts. But the polytheists did not become believers. Allah says in the Quran:

اقْتَرَبَتْ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ(1) القمر:1

(Translation of meaning) “The last hour has come and the moon has split” (Al-Qamar: 1)]. Miracles are a manifest proof of the existence of God as man is not capable to make them happen. Allah bestows the capacity to perform miracles only to his prophets and messengers so that non-believers could not falsify them. Thus Allah enabled Prophet Musa (AS) to perform such miracles. Thus once he struck his rod upon the stone and then a spring came out gushing. Similarly, when he struck that rod upon sea water, it split making way for his passage. Quran says:

فَقُلْنَا اضْرِبْ بِعَصَاكَ الْحَجَرَ فَانفَجَرَتْ مِنْهُ اثْنَتَا عَشْرَةَ عَيْناً (60) البقرة: 60

(Translation of meaning) “Then We told him to strike the stone with his rod so twelve springs gushed out of it” (Al-Baqarah: 60). Actually, all the phenomena of this universe are the proofs of the existence of Allah, whereas the atheists, do not possess any proof for the denial of existence of Allah. Both the nature and the rational faculty of human beings testify to the existence of Allah. The Shariat merely confirms this proof and makes it clear to man that his well-being and success lie in the recognition of and belief in one and only God.
