The Testimony of the Shariat
Every Muslim believes that all heavenly scriptures, testify to the existence of God and that whatever norms, laid down therein, have been transmitted from an All Wise and All Knowing being. Allah proclaims:
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلاَّ نُوحِي إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُ لا إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنَا فَاعْبُدُونِ (25) الأنبياء : 25
(Translation of meaning) [“And we did not send any Messenger before you without revealing to them that there is no ilah except me so you must worship me” (Al-Anbiya: 25)]. In another place Allah says:
وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِي كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَسُولاً أَنْ اُعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ النحل: 36
(Translation of meaning) [“Certainly we have sent a Messenger to every community (to tell you) that you must worship Allah” (Al-Nahl: 36)]. He further said:
وَإِلَى عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُوداً قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ الأعراف: 65
(Translation of meaning) [“And to A’d (we sent) their brother Hud. He said: “O my people worship Allah; there is no god for you other than Him; will you not become pious?” (Al-A’raf: 65)]. In the same way, He said:
وَإِلَى مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْباً قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ (85) (الأعراف: 85)
(Translation of meaning) [“And to Madyan (we sent) their brother Shoeb. He said “O my people worship Allah” (Al-A’raf: 85)]. He said further:
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحاً إِلَى قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَهٍ غَيْرُهُ أَفَلا تَتَّقُونَ(23) المؤمنون: 23
(Translation of meaning) [“And We sent Nuh to his people. He said “O my people worship Allah” (Al-Mominoon: 23)]. On another place He said:
وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ العنكبوت: 16
(Translation of meaning) [“And (We sent) Ibrahim who said to his people: Worship Allah” (Al-Ankabut: 16)].
